  • Electrodeposition – Electroforming of nickel and copper: Electroforming is a sincere reproduction process which is used to fabricate mould for Currency note, Holograms, CD etc. This is the critical technology where the expertises in electroplating and material science are required. This is one of the bottom-up processes for the fabrication nano sized components. Using this process, any critical component which cannot be fabricated by conventional engineering processes can be fabricated; at the same time, some of the mechanical properties can be slightly altered by adjusting the bath formulation, operating parameters like current, temperature and agitation
  • Significant contributions have been made for the successful development of Cryogenic rocket engine thruster for ISRO and Seamless Nickel crucible for IGCAR which is used for separation of valuable actinides from spent nuclear fuel; this was successfully electroformed and Ni-W coating in Nano particle size was provided in the inner side of the crucible for Reprocessing of spent fuel. Different electrodeposited coatings are employed on the structural materials and various components used in Nuclear reactors and in Fast breeder reactors. Most of the structural materials currently used are SS316L, SS304L and steel. These are severely corroded because of environment and operational sequences. To safeguard these structural materials, various types of metallic coatings are to be applied on the surface. Various metallic and alloys coating like copper, nickel and lead, Ni-W, Ni-Cu & Nickel-zirconia are coated on different thickness 10, 25, 50, 75μm
